McHenry Man, 77, Killed In Two-Car Crash

The collision happened Thursday morning at Miller Road and Spring Grove Road in unincorporated McHenry.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 77-year-old McHenry man died in a two-car crash that happened Thursday morning near McHenry.

The collision happened at about 11:35 a.m. when a 2012 Ford Fusion turning from westbound Miller Road onto northbound Spring Grove Road pulled out in front of a 2008 Ford Expedition, which was northbound on Spring Grove Road. The driver of the Fusion, the McHenry man, had a stop sign, while the driver of the 2008 Ford Expedition, a 70-year-old McHenry man, did not, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The 77-year-old McHenry man died at the scene. The driver of the Expedition was taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities say the 77-year-old McHenry man was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
