McHenry Man Arrested at Daycare Facility for Possession of Child Pornography: Police

There were 10 children enrolled in the daycare program at the time of the local man's arrest.

A 26-year-old McHenry man who was living with his parents at a home daycare facility has been arrested for possession of child pornography.

A $50,000 bond has been set for Michael L. Chaparro who faces four counts of possession of child pornography following his arrest this past week.

He is accused of possessing child pornography on his computer at 4515 W. Ramble Road in McHenry. Chaparro lived at the home with his parents, Hector and Eva Chaparro, who ran the licensed daycare facility, according to a McHenry County Sheriff’s Office press release.

An investigation into Chaparro began after members of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police identified a customer with an IP address that was downloading child pornography, according to the news release.

The suspect IP address was traced back to the McHenry address.

A search warrant was obtained and police searched the residence at about 5:35 p.m. on Dec. 2. Chaparro was taken into custody and transferred to the McHenry County Correctional Facility.

The Department of Children and Family Services was called and notified that there were 10 children who were enrolled in the daycare program at the McHenry home, according to the news release. 

DCFS has developed a safety plan with the licensed daycare facility, which includes that Chaparro is not able to be present when children are at the home.
