McHenry Man Charged In Hit And Run
The 24-year-old McHenry man is accused of running his vehicle into a bicyclist last month, police said.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 24-year-old McHenry man faces charges in connection with a hit and run that occurred in McHenry in June, authorities said. Brandon Chaples, 24, is charged with failure to stop afteran accident involving personal injury or death, a Class 2 felony; and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, a Class 4 felony, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.
Authorities say Chaples was behind the wheel of a vehicle that hit a bicyclist in the 300 block of North Front Street at 11:23 p.m. on July 16. The bicyclist was thrown from his bike and taken by helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center for a head injury that is not considered life-threatening, according to a news release.
The vehicle left the scene after the incident. Authorities were able to track the vehicle, a blue Toyota Corolla, down, locating it in the 4300 block of South Street in McHenry, police said. Chaples was determined to be the driver, according to authorities.
