McHenry Man, Woman Killed In Wisconsin Crash

The crash happened Wednesday afternoon near Eau Claire, Wis.

An 85-year-old McHenry man and an 80-year-old McHenry woman were killed in a one-vehicle rollover crash Wednesday afternoon in northern Wisconsin. The crash happened at about 12:28 p.m. Wednesday when a 2014 Dodge SUV was traveling north on Highway 27 in Cadott, Wis., before it went into the southbound lane and into the west ditch. The vehicle then struck a culvert and a concrete wall, according to a Wisconsin Department of Transportation news release.

The driver, Delores Freund, 80, was unconscious when emergency personnel arrived at the scene. She was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. A passenger in the vehicle, Paul Freund, 85, was conscious and taken by helicopter to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis. He later was pronounced dead, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
