Meteorologists to Survey Damage in McHenry Co. Thursday
Meteorologists from the National Weather Service will determine if a tornado touched down during Wednesday's storms.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - Meteorologists will be out surveying damage from Wednesday's storms today to determine if a tornado touched down in McHenry County. Significant damage was also reported in Boone ad Winnebago counties, according to the National Weather Service. Reports and accounts indicate that at least some of this damage was possibly "tornadic in nature," weather officials reported in a post on the National Weather Service Facebook page.
The storms ripped through the Chicago area Wednesday, bringing strong wind gusts and prompting weather officials to issue a tornado warning for McHenry County at about 10:30 p.m. Meteorologists pinpointed the Harvard and Hebron as being in the heart of the storm but tornado sirens also reportedly went off in Lake in the Hills, Huntley and Woodstock, according to WGN news reports.
Significant damage was reported at a farm along County Line Road near Harvard, according to NWS storm reports. An 80-by-100 foot barn and a 40-foot tall silo was destroy. There was also debris in a field.

Surveyors will gather and assess information from the field on Thursday and their analysis will be shared on the National Weather Service website.
