Norovirus Outbreak Hits Cary Assisted Living Facility
At least 30 at Three Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Cary have contracted the virus. Five have been hospitalized.

CARY, IL – A norovirus outbreak at an assisted living facility in Cary has lead to five residents at the facility being hospitalized. The outbreak, which has sickened at least 30 people at Three Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care facility, also prompted county officials to close down a polling place planned at Three Oaks for the upcoming primary until the virus, which is highly contagious, passes, the Northwest Herald reports.
The McHenry County Department of Health learned of the outbreak last week, McHenry County public health administrator Michael Hill told the Northwest Herald. The facility at 1055 Silver Lake Road is working to prevent the spread of the virus.
Norovirus is a very contagious virus that can infect anyone. You can get it from an infected person, contaminated food or water, or by touching contaminated surfaces, according to the Center for Disease Control.
