Police See Spike In Graffiti Reports In Crystal Lake

The local police department is asking for the public's help in reporting any similar suspicious activities in town.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The Crystal Lake Police Department is asking for the public's help in reporting any suspicious people or activities after an increase in reports regarding graffiti being found around town, according to authorities. In particular, there has been an increase in graffiti in the past two weeks, according to a post Thursday on the police department's Facebook page.

A photo provided by the police department on its Facebook page shows the "common tagging" authorities are finding throughout the community.

The incidents are not gang-related, authorities said. Most of the incidents have been occurring along Route 14.

Police are working hard to track down the culprits and are requesting the public's help in reporting suspicious people and activities by calling the department's non-emergency line (815) 356-3620 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 762-STOP (7867) for those who wish to remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers does pay cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of any individual.
