Pregnant Woman, Her Fiancé Rescued From Flooded Home

A rescue team came to the aid of the couple after their home near Spring Grove flooded.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A pregnant woman and her fiancé were rescued from their home near Spring Grove Wednesday as rising waters from Nippersink Creek flooded into their residence. The Spring Grove fire and rescue team responded to the home in the 7500 block of Carleton Drive in unincorporated Spring Grove at about 11:45 a.m.

At that time, floodwaters had risen into the home's crawl space and was starting to come through heat vents into the living area, according to the Northwest Herald. The rescue team guided a boat to the front door of the property rented by Joseph Callas, and his pregnant fiancée, Carli Navarre.

“With my fiancée being pregnant, there is no way I was going to risk carrying her out, and we needed to be rescued immediately,” Callas told the Northwest Herald.
