​Program on Scams Seniors Should Watch Out For Will Be Held This Week

The educational program will be held at Senior Services Associates in Crystal Lake on Friday morning.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Senior Services Associates in Crystal Lake will host an educational program on current scams and fraudulent activity in McHenry County on Friday, Sept. 9, at 11:30 a.m. The program will be held at Senior Services Associates, 110 W. Woodstock St., Suit B, in Crystal Lake.

The guest presenter will be from the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and will speak about crimes of identity theft and fraud. The sheriff’s office offers quarterly presentations in partnership with Senior Services to provide information on current scams, fraud, and other crimes targeting seniors that arise during the fall and winter months, according to the news release.

Tips will be given on what to watch out for, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you become a victim.

This presentation is designed for all McHenry County residents. Those who are caregivers to a senior or are a senior themselves are especially encouraged to participate because often seniors are the targeted victims.
