Rep. Weber Speaks Out Against Unnecessary Vehicle Repossession

Speaking in opposition to House Bill 1527, State Representative Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) called for maintaining current standards that allow residents to avoid costly vehicle repossession and damage to their credit if they fall behind on payments. After vigorous debate, the legislation failed to pass and was placed on postponed consideration.

“Today we got a win for regular folks,” said Weber. “House Bill 1527 would have made it easier to have your car repossessed and do lasting damage to your credit if you fall behind on payments. Instead, common sense prevailed. The bill failed to get the necessary votes, and the sponsor had to take it off the board.”
