Roadside Safety Check Held This Weekend in Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - Authorities are planning a roadside safety check in Crystal Lake this weekend.

The Crystal Lake Police Department, Crystal Lake Park District Police and Illinois State Police will conduct a roadside safety check in Crystal Lake during the weekend of March 11, according to a Crystal Lake Police Department press release.

Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or Driving Under the Influence (DUI), according to the news release. Alcohol and drug impairment is a significant factor in nearly 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.

This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Transportation Safety.
