MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A Cary man accused in a string of armed robberies in 2014 has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for holding up one local business. Cordelle J. Miller, 28, pleaded guilty to armed robbery, a class X felony, as part of a plea deal offered on Jan. 26. Judge Robert A. Wilbrandt handed down the 15-year sentence.
Prosecutors said Miller, who was armed with a "dangerous weapon," entered a 7-Eleven convenience store in Cary on March 6, 2014. He took cash from a store employee "by threatening imminent use of force," according to a press release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
Cordelle and his wife, Jessica Miller, were also charged with robbing a dress shop on March 6. During that robbery, a man entered the store in the 1200 block of Dundee Avenue in Elgin at about 7 p.m., displayed a gun and got away with $50 and a cell phone, according to the Daily Herald.
