Man Arrested For Attempted Murder For Shooting In McHenry
A McHenry man is accused of shooting a female relative, injuring her. Bail has been set at $50,000 for the shooter.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – Two children, ages 8 and 11 years old, were in the home where authorities say a McHenry man attempted to kill a female relative but were not injured. On Wednesday, the shooter in the attempted murder case was taken into custody after being released from the hospital. William R. Chrisman, 36, of the 5000 block of West Home Avenue in McHenry, is accused of shooting the 36-year-old female relative during a domestic disturbance on Jan. 15 in the West Home Avenue home, according to authorities.
Police found both the woman and Chrisman with gunshot wounds after responding at about 12:47 a.m. The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services was also called after the two children were found uninjured in the home. The children have since been placed with the female relative who was injured in the shooting, Public Affairs Officer Patrick Polidori told Patch.
Chrisman, who suffered a self-inflicted wound, was first taken to Centegra in McHenry before he was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.

Chrisman was arrested after he was released from the hospital on Wednesday. He has been charged with attempted murder, a Class X felony; aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony; aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
The female victim was taken to Centegra Medical Center in McHenry for treatment of a minor injury and was released the same morning of the shooting.

Additional information regarding the woman's injuries and where on her body she was shot was not being released since the shooting remains under investigation, Polidori said. Police also could not release any information into what prompted the dispute, Polidori said.
"This incident was isolated to this residence and there was no danger to the public," according to police.
The McHenry Police Department has not been called to the home in the past for any domestic-related or violent crimes, Polidori said.
Bail has been set at $50,000 for Chrisman. He is next expected in court on March 2.
