Sophie K. Dubs, 98, of Crystal Lake, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at home surrounded by family and friends.
Sophie was born Feb. 28, 1914, in Chicago, the daughter of David and Sophie Kraus.

Sophie married Alexander Dubs Jr. on June 24, 1939, in Chicago. They moved to Arlington Heights in 1953, and after her husbandās death in 2004, she moved to Crystal Lake.
Shortly after moving to Crystal Lake, she joined Immanuel Lutheran Church where she quickly made many new and wonderful friends.

Sophie worked for many years at The Bank & Trust Company of Arlington Heights. She also volunteered at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Sophie was an avid gardener and exceptional homemaker. Ā She was devoted to her family and friends. Always quick to lend a helping hand, she was an inspiration to her five grandsons and many great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Kevin) OāBrien, Janet (George) Soderberg; grandsons, Kevin OāBrien Jr., Michael (Shelli) Chinlund, Gregory (Colleen) Chinlund, Christopher (Ellen) OāBrien; 20 great grandchildren; brother, Henry; and many nieces and nephews.
Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander; brother, David; sisters, Josephine Belling, Emelie Fritz-Howell; and grandson, Sean OāBrien.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. More information is available at Davenport Family Funeral Home in Crystal Lake.
