Special DUI Patrols Planned Saturday In McHenry Co.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office will be participating in the "Saturation Saturday" initiative.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Patrol officers with the McHenry County Sheriff's Office will be out in full force Saturday as part of an initiative meant to curb drunken driving. The sheriff's office has partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to participate in their “Saturation Saturday” initiative, according to a news release.

On Saturday, officers with the sheriff’s office traffic unit along with the patrol division will conduct high-visibility DUI enforcement throughout McHenry County, according to a news release.

"The primary purpose of these high-visibility efforts is to communicate to potential offenders that there is no tolerance for impaired driving and to help end it," according to a news release.

Drunken driving is the number one cause of death on the nation’s roadways. The sheriff’s office participation in the initiative is meant to continue the effort to prevent drunk driving crashes and make McHenry County’s roadways safer, according to a news release.
