State Board of Elections Asked to Investigate Primary Election Day Issues in McHenry County
It took nearly two days after the polls closed Tuesday for votes to be counted in McHenry County.

State Rep. David McSweeney is calling on the Illinois State Board of Elections to investigate the clerk's office's handling of Tuesday's election, according to the newspaper. Several problems surfaced during the day, which hinged mainly on the failure of the county's electronic poll books that weren't working properly in some precincts when the polls opened on Tuesday. This lead to some voters being turned away and a emergency court order being issued that kept the polls open an extra 90 minutes.

Some election judges were not aware of the decision to keep polls open later, which lead to more confusion, the Daily Herald reports.
With unofficial results in as of Friday morning, and despite the hiccups Tuesday at polling places, voter turnout was high in McHenry County for the Tuesday primary election with 43 percent of registered voters making it out to cast their ballot.
