Suicide Prevention, Awareness Presentation By Crystal Lake PD
In 2014, the U.S. saw over 42,000 suicides.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The Crystal Lake Police Department is holding a suicide prevention and awareness presentation Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. at the station as part of the Coffee with the Chief event.
The free program will feature a presentation by the Suicide Prevention Task Force, who will provide training in Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR). QPR's goal is to "save lives and reduce suicidal behaviors by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training", according to police.
Suicides accounted for 42,826 deaths in the United States in 2014, and the CDC says it's the 10th leading cause of death in the country. It is the second leading cause of death among males 44 and younger.

One in 26 attempts is successful, Crystal Lake police say.
