Teens Injured In Crash Near Woodstock

The one-vehicle collision happened at 2:39 p.m. Monday on Charles Road in unincorporated Woodstock.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Two teens were taken to the hospital Monday afternoon following a single-vehicle crash near Woodstock. The collision occurred when a 2006 Mitsubishi Raider that was headed east in the 10500 block of Charles Road in unincorporated Woodstock attempted to pass several cars and then drove off the roadway, hitting a utility pole, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

A passenger in the car, a 15-year-old Harvard girl, was taken by helicopter to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis. She is in critical but stable condition, authorities said Tuesday.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in Woodstock where she was treated and released.

Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash, which occurred at 2:39 p.m. Wednesday. It is unclear if the driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to the news release.

The area where the crash occurred was closed for about five hours. The collision remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Crash Investigations Unit.
