Violent Crime Up In Cary, Down In Crystal Lake: FBI Crime Data
Crime stats from 2016 were released this past week by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – Violent crimes and property crimes are down in Crystal Lake over the past year, according to recently released FBI crime data. Meanwhile, Cary has seen an increase in violent crime from 2015 to 2016 and a decrease in property crimes. Crystal Lake and Cary crime stats from 2016 were released this past week as part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
Crime in the United States 2016 is a compilation of information reported to the FBI by more than 16,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide.

Here is a look at crime stats from 2016 for Crystal Lake and how those stats compare to 2015:
- There were 44 violent crimes reported in Crystal Lake in 2016 and 59 in 2015
- There were no murders in 2016 or 2015 in Crystal Lake
- There was were eight reported rapes in 2016 and nine reported in 2015
- There were four robberies in 2016 and seven in 2015 in Crystal Lake
- There were 32 aggravated assaults in 2016 in Crystal Lake and 43 in 2015
- There were 624 total property crimes in 2016 in Crystal Lake and 749 in 2015
- There were 56 burglaries in 2016 and 48 in 2015
- In 2016, there were 561 larceny-theft reports and there were 692 larceny-theft reports in 2015
- There were seven motor vehicle thefts in 2016 and nine in 2015
- There were three reports of arson in 2016 and none in 2015

- There were 20 reports of violent crimes in Cary in 2016 and 11 violent crime reports in 2015
- There were no murders in 2016 or 2015
- There was one reported rape in 2016 and four reported rapes in 2015 in Cary
- There was one robbery in 2016 and none in 2015
- There were 18 aggravated assaults in 2016 and seven in 2015
- In 2016, there were 75 property crime reports in Cary and in 2015, there were 112 property crime reports
- In 2016, there were 17 burglaries and in 2015, there were 33 burglaries
- There were 54 larceny-theft reports in 2016 and 79 larceny-thefts in 2015
- There were four motor vehicle thefts in 2016 and none reported in 2015
- There was one report of arson in 2016 and two reports of arson in 2015
