Wanted Man Could Be Hiding Near Three Oaks Recreation Area: Police

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is asking residents to be on the lookout for a fugitive who fled police and is believed to be hiding in the area of the Three Oaks Recreation area.

Edgar Cardoso is wanted on a warrant. He is described as being 5-feet, 5-inches tall, 150 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing all black.

At about 10 a.m. on Thursday, deputies with the sheriff's office attempted to arrest Cardoso in the area of Virginia Road and Teckler Street on a warrant. He fled on foot and has been on the lam ever since, according to authorities.

"He is believed to be hiding near the area of Three Oaks Recreation area," according to a post on the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. "He is believed to be unarmed and not a threat to the public."

Three Oaks Recreation Area is located southwest of Pingree Road and Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

Cardoso is wanted on several warrants for a probation violation, trespassing and drugs. Anyone who spots him is urged to call 911.
