Wauconda Man Killed After SUV Drives Off I-290

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — A 23-year-old Wauconda man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 290 in DuPage County on Friday afternoon, authorities said. The collision happened at about 1:10 p.m. when a grey Jeep Utility heading west on Interstate 230 near Grand Avenue went off the roadway, into the ditch and then became airborne before landing on Grand Avenue and colliding with 2016 Ford Utility.

The driver of the Jeep, Jack Giannini, 23, of Wauconda, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, Robert J. Doyle, 58, of Addison, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities closed down Grand Avenue for about five hours, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
