Weber Reacts to Sentencing of Former DCFS Worker in AJ Freund Case

Former DCFS worker Carlos Acosta sentenced to six months in jail after being convicted of child endangerment in the

Following the sentencing of former DCFS worker Carlos Acosta to six months in jail today after being convicted of child endangerment in the death of AJ Freund, State Rep. Tom Weber released the following statement:

“My heart still aches for AJ and every other child that DCFS has failed to protect. Although no punishment can bring AJ back or prevent the pain he suffered, considering how Acosta so terribly failed AJ, six months feels like a slap on the wrist when he could have been sentenced to 5 or 10 years.”
