A 33-year-old woman was critically injured in a snowmobile accident Wednesday night in Port Barrington.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the snowmobile crash in the 2600 block of North Wisteria Court at about 9:35 p.m. When they arrived, they found the driver of the snowmobile, a 33-year-old woman, lying on the ground unconscious, according to the sheriff’s office press release.
A preliminary investigation revealed the woman was the only one the snowmobile at the time of the crash. During a short ride, she accelerated rapidly, causing her front skis to lift off the ground, police said. She was ejected from the snowmobile and struck her head on the pavement and the snowmobile overturned. It appears alcohol may have played a factor in the crash, according to the news release.
