Woodstock Construction Worker Hospitalized After Backhoe Loader Tips Over in Ravine

The Woodstock resident was taken to Condell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The accident happened in Mundelein.

A 57-year-old construction worker was hospitalized Wednesday after a backhoe he was using to pull a piece of equipment out of a Mundelein ravine tipped over, the Daily Herald reports.

The Woodstock resident, who is an employee for Copenhaver Construction, was working on a culvert beneath a roadway in the 1000 block of Lomond Drive as part of a village project when the accident occurred around 7:30 a.m., according to the article.

The construction worker was able to escape any serious injuries and was walking around when emergency personnel arrived, the Mundelein Review reports. He was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life threatening injuries.

Fuel spilled onto the roadway and authorities closed a portion of roadway following the accident, according to the Mundelein Review.
