Woodstock Man Arrested For Arson

Authorities said the man intentionally started a fire at a home near Woodstock in September.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A 28-year-old Woodstock man has been arrested for arson for his alleged role in a house fire that broke out last month in unincorporated Woodstock. Carl K. Rice was taken into custody Friday. He has been charged with residential arson, which is a Class 1 felony.

The charge stems from a blaze at a home in the 2900 block of Raycraft Road in unincorporated Woodstock at about 7:17 p.m. on Sept. 22. Authorities launched an arson investigation following the blaze that authorities said showed Rice intentionally started the fire at the home, news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

No one was injured in the fire but the blaze did cause substantial damage to the home.

As a result of the investigation deputies obtained an arrest warrant and Rice was taken into custody on Friday. Rice's bond has been set at $150,000 and he is next expected in court on Oct. 31.
