Darien Coronavirus Rate Stays About Same: County
The city experiences no coronavirus deaths in the last week.
DARIEN, IL — Darien saw a slight drop in new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
As of Sunday, Darien had seen 2,076 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 21 in the last week. The week before last, the city experienced 23 new cases.
The city's number of coronavirus deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 25. The deaths work out to about a thousandth of Darien's population.

As of Sunday, Darien had 96 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 109 in Hinsdale and DuPage County, 110 in La Grange Park, 111 in Elmhurst, 117 in Clarendon Hills, 121 in Western Springs and suburban Cook County and 123 in Burr Ridge.
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,712,986, a 1 percent increase from the previous week, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 25,948.
Nationally, 46.4 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, a 1.1 percent increase from the previous week, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 751,535 people have died from the virus in the United States.
