During an investigation, officers found that the suspect, 44-year-old Uzma Shamsi, had a warrant charging her with failure to appear in a DUI case.
Police said she paid for some grocery items in her cart, but not various dog toys and brownie items.

Shamsi repeated that she had to pick up her son, but she declined to say where he was, according to the report. It was later discovered that she was referring to her dog, police said.
When police tried to arrest Shamsi, she refused to put her left hand behind her back, the report said. She was then accused of trying to bite an officer's left hand.
According to the report, the officer asked, "You're trying to bite me now?"
"Yeah, yeah," Shamsi was quoted as saying.
Shamsi then kicked another officer, police said. She was told she was being charged with resisting arrest, apparently prompting her to kick the officer in the leg twice, according to the report.
Shamsi was escorted to a wall so that officers could maintain control. Shamsi then kicked two of them repeatedly, police said.
Shamsi's parents arrived to take her valuables.
Shamsi was charged with felony aggravated battery, resisting an officer and retail theft
As of Tuesday, Shamsi remained in the DuPage County Jail.
