Darien Sees Slightly Bigger Virus Case Hike: County
The city experiences no new coronavirus deaths in the last week.
DARIEN, IL — Darien saw six new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department.
That compares to nine cases over the four weeks before the last week. Nationally, case numbers have been ticking up more quickly in the last week.
As of Sunday, Darien had a total of 1,776 coronavirus cases.

The city's number of coronavirus deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 22. That works out to less than a thousandth of Darien's population.

As of Sunday, Darien had 82.1 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning, better than its neighbors. The figure compares to 88.6 in La Grange Park, 92.1 in DuPage County, 93.7 in Hinsdale, 95 in Elmhurst, 99.3 in Western Springs, 100.4 in Clarendon Hills, 102.7 in suburban Cook County, 105.5 in Burr Ridge and 122 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).
As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,402,763, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,377.
Nationally, 33.9 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.1 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 606,618 people have died from the virus in the United States.
