Local Church to Be National Day of Prayer Site

St. John Lutheran Church is a registered site for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 4, 2017.

St. John Lutheran Church located at 7214 South Cass Avenue in Darien, Illinois is a registered site for the National Day of Prayer which occurs this year on Thursday, May 4, 2017. The National Day of Prayer is a vital part of our heritage. It has become an observance across the nation which unites Americans from all socio-economic, political and ethnic backgrounds in prayer.

The church will host a Prayer Vigil from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The sanctuary will be open to the public for those who wish to come in and pray. Guests can also write their prayer requests and place them on crosses so others will pray for them. In addition to personal petitions, the National Day of Prayer encourages citizens to lift up our government, military, emergency personnel, media, businesses, educational institutions, churches, and family units in prayer.

A worship service will be held at 7:00 p.m. when the vigil ends. The community is invited to attend. A reception of light refreshments will follow and conclude the day's activities.
