Our Lady of Peace School Participates in Arbor Day
The village of Darien hosted an Arbor Day celebration on Friday which was attended by the 6th grade students from Our Lady of Peace School.
On Friday, April 29th, the 6th grade students at Our Lady of Peace School attended the Darien Arbor Day celebration at the Darien Park. Along with several other area schools, the children learned about the importance of trees from a representative from the Morton Arboretum and even chanted along with her while cheering for all the great things trees do for us.
Our local firemen visited as well and spoke about fire safety. Unfortunately, they were called away during their presentation.
Some members of a singing group from Hinsdale South High School sang a beautiful rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." It was nice to see some Our Lady of Peace alumni in the group!

Several trees were blessed and dedicated to the memories of area residents in a beautiful presentation and the students were given goodie bags to take home with them. The celebration in the park was a bright spot in what was otherwise a damp and chilly day. Thank you Darien for the opportunity to participate in such a lovely event!
