Our Lady of Peace School Patriot's Pen Essay Winners Announced

On Friday, February 10th, three students from Our Lady of Peace School in Darien were presented with awards from the local VFW post. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades were asked to write an essay with the topic being “The America I Believe In.” The essays were submitted to the post for judging, and then the top three papers were awarded certificates and monetary prizes.

At the end of the weekly school Mass, a local VFW post member spoke to the students about the Patriot’s Pen contest and shared his military background with everyone. With the help of fellow veteran Father Walter Dziordz, they then presented awards to the writers of the winning papers.
