'Unresponsive' Armed Man Found In Darien: Cops

Officers used a drone to speak to the man, who did not wake up for five minutes, police said.

DARIEN, IL – A south suburban man was found "unresponsive" last week in a car with a handgun in his waistband, Darien police said.

Last week, Patch gave the basics about the incident. Police provided more information in its weekly blotter Thursday.

The incident occurred about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 4 near Taco Bell at 75th Street and Cass Avenue.

After officers found the driver unresponsive, they placed "stop sticks" under his rear tires and deployed a drone, police said. Officers gave instructions to the 24-year-old South Holland man through the drone.

After about five minutes, the driver woke up, police said.

He was cited on charges of transportation of alcohol by a driver and improper parking on the roadway.

Police said last week they initially suspected the man of drunken driving.

He was released and given a date to appear in court.
