Evanston Woman Identified As Victim In Deerfield Hit-And-Run
The 53-year-old woman was fatally struck by a minivan in a parking lot Friday, authorities said.

DEERFIELD, IL — The pedestrian who died Friday after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Deerfield has been identified as an Evanston woman.
Lucinda Rondon-Stanley, 53, died shortly after noon Friday at Highland Park Hospital from injuries she suffered when being struck by a vehicle in the Deerfield Bakery parking lot, according to preliminary autopsy results cited by Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper.
Deerfield police said the driver, an 68-year-old man, fled before officers and paramedics arrived, found the woman lying in the parking lot and began attempting rescue efforts on her.

The coroner said toxicology results are pending and Deerfield police, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and the coroner's office are continuing to investigate Rondon-Stanley's death.
Police said the driver was taken into custody in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road, which is near Deerfield High School about about a mile and a half from the incident.

The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was released without charge Friday pending the results of an ongoing investigation, according to Deerfield police.
Both the front and rear tires of a Honda minivan drove over Rondon-Stanley after it struck her as she walked through the parking lot before leaving the scene, a "flabbergasted" witness told WLS-TV.
