In 2007  Calvin Earl (http://calvinearl.com)  rose to national prominence when he ensured the destiny of the humble African American Spiritual as part of American history by moving the U.S. Congress to a unanimous vote that would forever recognize the African American Spiritual as a National Treasure.  Drawn to the powerful spirit of life, faith and hope the slaves expressed through their songs, CUMC's Pastor Brian Roots, assisted by Music Director Gregg Sewell and the CUMC choir, bring this story to life in a three-week sermon series.

Everyone is invited!  Available: Nursery Care for infants and toddlers; Sunday School for ages 3 -  5th grade. A coffee and fellowship hour follows the worship service.
