Hanukkah 2023 In Deerfield: See What's Happening

DEERFIELD, IL — There are plenty of things going on around Deerfield to celebrate the 2023 winter holidays. Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights, starts at sundown on Dec. 7, and ends at nightfall on Dec. 15.

Menorah lightings and other Hanukkah events in the Deerfield area include:

• Menorah workshop, 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Dec. 3, Home Dept, 655 Lake Cook Road, Deerfield. Free event, but reservations are required for this event from Lubavitch Chabad of Northbrook. Meet the dreidel mascot and enjoy some Chanukah treats. Find out more and make a reservation here.
• Chanukah Celebration, 5 p.m. Dec. 7, Deerfield Village Centre (between Starbucks and Bobby's). Free admission for this event sponsored by Chabad of Deerfield. Latkes and doughnuts, festive music, menorah lighting, dreidels and prizes, fun Chanukah crafts. RSVP here.
• "Sing, Spin and Shine," 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 10, at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave. The Northbrook Park District and Congregation Beth Shalom have announced a family-friendly event to commemorate the holiday. "Sing, Spin & Shine"will include activities for the whole family, including songs and stories led by staff and members of Congregation Beth Shalom, cookie decorating, Dreidel games, crafts, Chanukah card-making and make your own Chanukiyah (Menorah). • Chanukah Wonderland, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, Sunday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Dec. 10-14, Crossroads Shopping Center, 187 Skokie Blvd., Northbrook (near Mizrahi Grill). Typically held at Northbrook Court, this event finds a new home year for its "Israel edition." There will be a Dreidel bounce house, decorate a donut, Kotel menorahs, Do-It-Yourself Gelt pouch, Jewish pride bracelets, wooden dreidel craft, and unity blankets for children in Israel. There will be a daily menorah lighting at closing time. The cost is $18, $15 before Dec. 8. Also new this year, get dinner from Mizrahi Grill delivered to eat while the kids play.
