Mitchell Pool Closes Due To Staff Coronavirus Case In Deerfield

The Deerfield Park District also announced Monday a second staff member is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.

DEERFIELD, IL — Mitchell Pool has been closed following a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis of a staff member. The Deerfield Park District made the announcement Monday, also stating a second staff member is experiencing coronavirus symptoms.

The Mitchell Pool facility will remain closed until further notice.

Based on the information reported and reviewed, the park district does not believe any member of the public had "close contact" with the individuals, as defined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

"However, out of an abundance of caution, we wanted to provide you this notification [of closure]. Please understand that because of applicable confidentiality laws we will not share the diagnosed individual’s name or other personally-identifying information," the Deerfield Park District said in a press release.

The park district is working with the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health and Lake County Health Department regarding guidance, as well as deep cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces and areas, according to the release.

For anyone that had purchased public swim tickets for this coming week, they will receive a full refund to the credit card used for the purchase within 5-7 business days.
