Portillo's Sets Deerfield Opening Date
The restaurant on Lake Cook Road will be the first Portillo's with a 1970s theme.

DEERFIELD, IL - The opening of the long-awaited Deerfield Portillo’s is right around the corner.
The fast-casual, retro-themed Chicagoland favorite known for its hot dogs and char-grilled hamburgers will open its first 1970s theme restaurant at 700 Lake Cook Road in Deerfield on Tuesday, Nov. 15, according to the Deerfield Review.
"I'm very excited," Mayor Harriet Rosenthal told the Review. "We worked real hard for this addition to Deerfield. We know it is a good use for the site. People in the community never stopped asking me about it."

Portillo’s plans to hire about 200 employees for its new location, according to a report from March.
What started at a corner hot dog stand in Villa Park by owner Dick Portillo now has several locations in Chicagoland, including two in the city of Chicago.

Talk of adding one in Deerfield goes back more than two years. The initial plan was to build exactly where they have, but that plan was stopped due to concern over soil conditions. A brief plan to locate at another site was halted due to parking issues.
