Roadwork Ahead on Central Avenue
A new roadway, sidewalks and sewers will come between Wilmot Road and Elm Street in Deerfield.

A one-mile stretch of Central Avenue and two smaller, intersecting streets will soon see a new roadway, sidewalks and sewers.
A bid for slightly under $2 million from A Lamp Concrete Contractors, Inc. to build on Central Avenue between Wilmot Road and Elm Street and on Jonquil Terrace and Grove Avenue between Central and Brookside Lane was approved by Deerfield trustees on Monday, the Deerfield Review reports.

The three-month project is scheduled to begin between July 15 and August 1.
Current plans do not include completing the north side of Central between the bridge spanning the West Fork of the North Branch of the Chicago River east to Elm but Mayor Harriet Rosenthal wanted to know if it was possible.

“There are currently gaps in the sidewalk,” she said.
