Simeck Named Superintendent Of Deerfield District 109
Mike Simeck was most recently the superintendent of schools for District 67 and 115 in Lake Forest.

DEERFIELD, IL — The Deerfield Public Schools District 109 Board of Education has chosen Mike Simeck as the district’s next superintendent of schools. Simeck’s contract was approved at Monday's board of education meeting, and he will officially begin his duties on July 1, 2021.
Simeck brings "significant experience and leadership in education," most recently as the Superintendent of Schools for District 67 and 115 in Lake Forest, where he has served since 2012, according to a press release. In the five years prior, he was the superintendent at Berkley School District in Oak Park, Michigan, following four years of service leading the Dansville Schools. Simeck began his career as a middle and high school German teacher before moving into administrative roles as a summer school principal and then a high school principal.
“I would like to thank the Deerfield Board of Education for the privilege of becoming the next superintendent of District 109. District 109 has a proud heritage of educational excellence, and I am very excited to join an exemplary team of educators, passionate parents, and committed community members to lead the district into the future,” Simeck said in the release.

Simeck and his wife, both Fulbright scholars, have spent extensive time in Germany and France. He participated in both teacher and administrative exchange programs. He is a member of the Lake County Superintendents Association, Illinois Association of School Administrators, and American Association of School Administrators, among others. He holds his Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University.
His selection is the culmination of a months-long national search process by the Board of Education that produced 49 qualified applicants from diverse geographic and professional backgrounds, according to the release

“We are confident that after a thorough search process and significant engagement with multiple stakeholder groups, 109 has found the right leader to move Deerfield forward in our goal to be educational leaders,” said Nick Begley, president of the 109 Board of Education.
