Stevenson Tabs Josh Hjorth as Next Football Coach

The stellar defensive coordinator will replace Bill McNamara as the Patriots' head coach.

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL - Stevenson High School hired one of the state’s best defensive coaches to its top football position and the school did not need to look far to find their man.

Josh Hjorth will replace Bill McNamara as head coach of the Patriots, according to the Chicago Tribune.

McNamara announced his resignation last month after seven successful seasons on the job including a 2014 campaign that resulted in the Patriots winning the state championship.

Hjorth has been the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Patriots for the past seven years, leading some of the top defenses in the state during that time.

In 2014, the Patriots allowed only 11.4 points-per-game in their state championship run.

Hjorth credits McNamara for allowing him to be fully prepared for the new job.

"We worked hand-in-hand and made group decisions," Hjorth said. "I'm extremely thankful to Bill to guide me along the way and teach me the nuances of the job."
