'Unrest' And Crime Leads To Police Staffing Increase
Deerfield announced Sunday night it is bulking up its police force amid violence in Chicagoland following the death of George Floyd.

DEERFIELD, IL — Amid reports of increased crime and unrest spreading into the suburbs following the death of George Floyd in Minnesota, the Village of Deerfield announced Sunday night in an emergency alert it is bulking up staffing within the police department and patrol officers are on alert. The Village is coordinating with area law enforcement agencies. No protests have been seen within the Village, according to the Village of Deerfield.
The Village also announced the T-Mobile store, located at the Deerfield Shopping Center, was robbed at around 4 p.m. Sunday. Police notified neighboring businesses, which immediately closed to the public. Businesses and residents are advised to call 911 if they see suspicious activity with safety being the top priority, according to the Village.
