Woman Killed After Car Breaks Down On I-94 Near Deerfield

The woman's car was struck by a semi-trailer truck after it was disabled in the center lane of the highway for unknown reasons.

BANNOCKBURN, IL — A woman was killed Wednesday night after her vehicle was struck by a semi-trailer truck on Interstate 94, just south of Duffy Lane in Bannockburn. According to the Illinois State Police, the woman's car was disabled in the center lane of the highway for unknown reasons when the accident occurred at around 10:04 p.m.

The woman, a sole occupant of the passenger vehicle, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. She would later succumb to the injuries. There were no other reported injuries.

Marizol Davila, 25, of Round Lake Beach, died of multiple injuries in a vehicle crash, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Lanes 3 and 4 were shut down at around 10:29 p.m. for the traffic crash investigation, while Lanes 1 and 2 remained open for traffic. Later, Lane 2 was shut down with Lane 1 staying open. At 3:05 a.m. Thursday, all lanes were reopened, according to Illinois State Police.
