5K For Everyday Champions

Event Overview

The “5K Run of Everyday Champions” is a principal
fundraiser for Northwest Compass, and derives its
name from the definition of a “Champion”, a person
who takes individual responsibility for enacting
successful, positive change in a community. They are
supportive and enthusiastic about positive change
and are actively involved in bringing it about.
“Champions” advocate and promote acceptance of
positive change and motivate others to do the same.
The “Champions”’ of Northwest Compass are driven
by their passion to have a social impact. The community
surrounding Northwest Compass breeds “Champions” — those who give their support,
time, expertise, money and service to those residents of the northwest suburbs who are in crisis and have nowhere to turn. These “Champions” turn a person’s crisis into an opportunity.

The Race

To celebrate this theme, Northwest Compass invites “Champions” of all types and athletic ability to participate in the “5K Run of Everyday Champions,’ consisting of a 5K Run as well as a Kids Dash. It will take place August 29 in Lions Memorial Park and the neighborhoods of Mount Prospect. The “Champion” theme will be evident everywhere on site — from the palpable energy of runners’ endorphins to the “Champion“-themed art on the event t-shirt. This event will crackle with positive energy of “Champions!” Runners will be rewarded at the finish line with a wide variety of refreshments and a joy-filled awards ceremony.
