Basketball Classes and Leagues Getting Underway at Golf Maine Park District

Youth Basketball Starts March 1 at Golf Maine Park District

The Golf Maine Park District (GMPD) is hosting a variety of basketball classes and leagues for area youth this spring at Dee Park, Dee and Emerson Roads, in unincorporated Maine Township. Contact GMPD offices at 847-297-3000, ext. 22 for more information including dates, fees and times.

Little Dribblers basketball starts Session #1 on March 1 and runs through April 5. Session #2 runs from April 19 through May 24. Designed for ages 4 – 6 years old, this program is held from 4 to 4:45 p.m. The fee is $42. Instructor Georgy Mathew will teach participants the basic fundamentals of basketball and skills including dribbling, shooting and footwork.

The League Prep Youth Basketball Class for ages will help develop the necessary basketball skills required to participate in a 4th – 6th grade basketball league. Designed for ages 7 – 9 years old, participants will practice dribbling, shooting, footwork and other basic basketball principles. Classes are held 5 – 5:45 p.m. Session #1 is from March 1 – April 5 with Session #2 held from April 19 – May 24. The fee is $42.

The 2016 Spring 6th – 8th grade co-ed basketball league is forming. Games are held Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 3 p.m. beginning April 25 and running through June 1. The league plays at Feldman Recreation Center, 9229 Emerson, Des Plaines. The fee is $90. A clinic will be held April 9 from 12 to 1 p.m.
