Des Plaines Man Waits More Than 3 Months to Cash in $100K Powerball Ticket

Michael Madden's winning ticket matched 4 numbers and the Powerball in the April 2 drawing.

Des Plaines, IL—Maybe it took Michael Madden a while for his new financial circumstances to set in.

Maybe that's why he didn't redeem his winning Powerball prize ticket for more than three months.

But this week, Madden, of Des Plaines, presented his ticket that matched four numbers—plus the Powerball—to Illinois Lottery officials. And because Madden checked off the Power Play feature, the ticket's $50,000 original earnings were doubled, and he was awarded $100,000.
