Golf Maine Park District Hosts First Annual Kite Flying Event This Saturday

Join us this Saturday at Mark Twain School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the First Annual "Let's Go Fly a Kite". Info at www.gmpd.org

It looks like perfect weather for a kite flying event so join us this Saturday!

The Golf Maine Park District will host the First Annual Let's Go Fly a Kite event on May 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mark Twain School, 9401 Hamlin, Des Plaines. It's free for all ages. For more information, visit www.gmpd.org or call 847-297-3000.

The event is sponsored by the Golf Maine Park District, Maine Township, the Niles Public Library, Journal & Topics Newspapers, East Maine School District 63 and Chicago Kite.

Come fly away with Chicago Kite/Kite Harbor and enjoy watching amazing kite stunts, tricks and flips. Come just to watch or fly your own kit (bring your own or kites are available for purchase). Food and soft drinks will be available for purchase throughout the day.

A kite decorating contest will be held during the event. Children can decorate a kite from the kits in distributed at the school or purchase them at the event. Ribbons will be awarded in kindergarten, first-second grade, third-fourth grade and fifth-sixth grade. Judging takes place between 10:30 to noon.
