Iqbal Society pays tribute to Poet Allama Iqbal in Chicago

Notable poet from Pakistan and south Asian countries. no need any further introduction about Great Poet and Leader, Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born on the 9th of November 1877 in Sialkot. He passed away almost 80 years ago, but Peoples of the world are still paying tribute every single year. Chicago is one of them.

Allama Iqbal was highly well educated and his poetry was not ordinary it had a vision in it that drew an entire Muslim & Non-Muslim community towards making themselves a nation. His poetry and his philosophy are what led the Muslims of the sub-continent (South Asia) to a point where they recognized themselves and their strengths as a nation. People Known Iqbal as a philosopher of Islam in modern times, Iqbal is also called the Shayar-e-Mashriq mean the Poet of the East. Iqbal also called The Thinker of Pakistan.

Iqbal Day is celebrated every year on the Chicago in Riaz Waraich Auditorium, East West University. Iqbal Day Celebration organized by Iqbal Society on Sunday 29th 2018.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States (US) Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry was the chief Guest of the Event. The Ambassador highlighted in his keynote speech. He said “Allama Iqbal the poet, philosopher and a great thinker with the help of his poetry tried to awaken the Muslims of the sub-continent. He believed the separate identity of Muslims as a nation. He further said Iqbal taught the message of Islam through his theories of “Khudi”, mard-e-momin” and “shaheen” which are as relevant today as then.

Dr. Teepu Siddique a neurologist in Chicago, Illinois was another speaker at the event said “Iqbal’s ideology has been soaked into Islam. his vision and ideologies still guide us”. Dr. Wasiullah Khan also spoke at the event.

The event attendance was very low all the attendee was only seniors. The program occurs on weekends when the university was closed none of from the young generation attend the event. Iqbal Society should do this kind of event on a weekday, Then the student can learn Iqbal’s Ideology, philosophy and its poetry.
