Muslims of Chicagoland celebrate Eid with zeal and fervor

Eid al-Fitr celebrated on the Chicagoland on last Friday, several congregations were held all over across the Chicago and its Suburbs.

In Chicago, including United States and Canada the Shawwal moon sighted on Thursday, after which the Chicago-Hilal Committee had announced that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Friday June 15, 2018. The announcement was made after the committee received several testimonies of moon sighting from a several parts of the country including Chicagoland. Around 400,000 Muslims live in Chicago and its Suburbs. There are currently 100 mosques and Islamic centers in the metropolitan area. Eid-ul-Fitr festival is a day when Muslims thank to Creator for strength and blessings.

Eid prayers were offered at mosques and open-air places like Toyota Park, Hinsdale South High School Football Field and Niles also in all cities and towns of the country. Eid congregations in Chicago and its Suburbs started from 7 AM. More than 150 places Eid congregations were performed such as Downtown Islamic Center, Islamic Center of Naperville (Ogden masjid), Ashyana Banquets, Donald E Stephens (Rosemont Convention Center), Masjid Al Farooq, Islamic Foundation, Muslim Association of Bolingbrook, Meadows Club, holiday inn Skokie, Meadows Club, Jama Masjid on Devon, ICC on Lincoln Ave Islamic Center of Des Plaines and many other places. Every place had capacity for both the men and women sections.

Similar congregations were held all over across the Muslim community and United States of America.

The impressive and Packed Eid prayer congregation was held at Holiday Inn Skokie in three different prayers. The first Prayer at 9:00 a.m. The second prayer was 10:00 a.m. and third prayer was 11:00 p.m. The prayer was led by religious scholars. All scholars highlighted the importance of peace and tolerance in Islam and Muslim role in America as an American.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a marked the end of a holy month of fasting and prayers. It was a time of self-reflection, focusing on the Islamic values of charity, community, cooperation and compassion.

During congregation prayer Imam and Religious leaders performed Special prayers for peace, progresses and prosperity of the United States and its people.

After Eid prayer Worshippers exchanged Eid greetings and embrace one another. Muslims greet each other by saying Eid Mubarak. Its mean ‘celebration blessed’. Children received money as gifts to celebrate the occasion.
