Oakton Community College welcomes military veterans to resource fair on March 25

Veterans and their loved ones are invited to Oakton for a free Resource Fair to learn about available benefits and resources.

Veterans and their loved ones are invited to Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines (Room 1604), for a free Veterans Resource Fair from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The event is sponsored by Oakton’s Advising Services.

“Oakton is committed to connecting those who served our country with benefits and resources they earned and deserve,” said Oakton Student Veteran Representative Brooke Roche. “This event is one way to ensure that veterans have access to the full range of service available to them including college and career counselling, financial aid assistance, confidential therapy for veterans and their family and veteran’s social organizations.”

Service providers on site will include Evanston Vet Center, The Soldiers Project, Des Plaines, American Legion, Volunteers of America, Mission Continues and Tim Clark, a licensed clinical social worker for veterans. In addition, health care and mental health providers Lovell Federal Health Care Center (North Chicago) and Jesse Brown V.A. Medical Center (Chicago) will be on hand.

Participants can also talk to representatives from other colleges and universities besides Oakton including DePaul University, Elmhurst College, Loyola University, National-Louis University and Northeastern University.
