Oakton offers engaging STEM summer programs for youth

Youths ages 8 -14 can enroll in STEM summer programs at Oakton Community College. Courses are available from June to August.

Youths ages 8 -14 are invited to give their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills a workout this summer by enrolling in fun-filled camps offered at Oakton’s campuses in Skokie, 7701 N. Lincoln Avenue, and Des Plaines, 1600 E. Golf Road. Programs provide diverse learning opportunities connecting youth to a college campus and are offered by Oakton’s Alliance for Lifelong Learning in collaboration with the Center for Promoting STEM. One-week courses are available from June to August.

June camps involve topics such as making LEGO® films, creating 3D video games and models, and designing Minecraft characters and buildings. In July and August, offerings center around robotics. Students will have the opportunity to design their own robots, test their creations in competitions, and visit a robotics company.

Courses range from $123 - $300. Early bird enrollment is available for some courses if registered by Monday, June 6.
